The coupon comes in two rates. Both are taken off the tax-exclusive price:
- Electronics, watches, cameras, tumblers7% off
- Food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics5% off
On top of that comes tax-free shopping, which removes the 10% consumption tax — 8% on items at the reduced rate. At the best rate, the two together come to up to 17% off.
Where it works
EDION stores nationwide. Scan both barcodes on the coupon at the till — the count barcode and the discount barcode.
EDION applies a separate procedure and a handling fee for tax refunds, so allow a little extra time at the counter.
What to check
EDION publishes a long exclusion list. Among the items that do not qualify:
- DM items, items on flyers, deal of the day, limited quantity and clearance stock
- Mobile phones, Surface, VAIO, Apple products, Amazon products, PC parts
- Imported watches and Grand Seiko
- Toys and all game-related products, video and music software, books
- Liquor and gift certificates
The coupon cannot be combined with other discount coupons.

Good to know
Tax-free at EDION requires that you have lived outside Japan for more than two consecutive years, that your total spend at one store in one day is 5,000 yen or more excluding tax, and that you leave Japan within 90 days of purchase. Goods are inspected at departure, so keep them in your hand luggage. From 1 November 2026, Japan's tax-free system changes from a point-of-sale exemption to a refund collected at the airport on departure. Check the current terms in store.
